Steam Crunk Lounge

Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys curated the main auditorium at the Hynes Convention Center for First Night 2011, presenting “The Steam Crunk Lounge”.

The night started off with the Tiny Instrument Revue, who melted hearts & bared bums in the audience:

The Trabants took the stage and set the room on fire, inspiring a dance party to break out:

Johnny Blazes titillated the audience before the Somerville Symphony Orkestar (not pictured) took the stage:

Then it was time for Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys to end the night!

More, as always, in the gallery!

Bury Me Standing

Bury Me Standing, led by Nate Greenslit (of HUMANWINE) and Vessela Stoyanova (of Goli), just recently begun their existence with a month-long residency at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge. These photographs were taken over the course of that residency, which included many amazing guests such as Molly Zenobia, Goli, Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band, Mary Dolan, and Jaggery.

Their next show is January 21st at Club Passim!

ENSMB at Honk!

Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band asked me to follow them at the fifth Honk!, a festival of activist street bands. The best word to describe that weekend has to be “Epic”. We started off with a pre-festival wedding, officiated by Chuck himself:

Emperor Norton’s then took the main stage at Statue Park right in the middle of Davis Square. It wasn’t until later when we saw video someone had posted on Youtube just how many people were crammed into Davis for it!

There was a second set that night just outside of Davis. After ENSMB finished their first set, they moved onto the playground for a few more!

The following day was the parade from Davis Square down Mass Ave to Harvard Square. They had even more stilt dancers (from Mortal Beasts and Deities), spinners, jugglers, and dancers than the previous day!
