Massive Honk! video post
Honk! was amazing. This year was my first as a performer (in Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band) vs. just a photographer and I have to say it’s a lot more fun this way. In between our own sets I did manage to take some video (all with my NEX5) of some of the other bands. I present to you:
Environmental Encroachment (Chicago, IL)
Minor Mishap Marching Band (Austin, TX)
Extraordinary Rendition Band (Providence, RI)
Rude Mechanical Orchestra (New York, NY)
What Cheer? Brigade (Providence, RI)
(yes, that is a freaking mosh pit in front of a marching band. These guys were intense)
Go to this!
Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band will be playing sets at 2pm in Statue Park (Davis Square proper) and 8pm on Chester Street (by Red Bones). If you want to get your Honk on early, don’t forget about our Marching Band Mayhem show at Club Oberon on the 29th too!
Irene, Inside & Out
For me personally, Hurricane Irene was mostly a non-event — I had a quiet afternoon, complete with french toast under close feline supervision. However, Central Square was the emptiest and quietest I’ve ever seen it during the summer months. There were only a couple cafes and such open, and they were busy, but there were remarkably few people on the street.
