The Annie Darcy Band (Facebook fan page here) lit up Club Oberon last Wednesday with beautiful Prohibition-era jazz. They should really put out a CD with their covers as they’re absolutely gorgeous. There are more photographs in the gallery, but behold my favorites from the night:
I had heard Goli‘s Valerie Thompson perform in multiple groups before (you can catch a glimpse of her from Improv at the Cloud Club) but never in her own; when I heard they were playing at Cafe 939 I knew I wanted to see them! They did not disappoint, and some of their (very smart and fun) songs have been stuck in my head since.
The incomparable Johnny Blazes invited me to Truth Serum Productions‘s recent TraniWreck: GOLD show at Club Oberon. The show was a ton of fun! As always, there’s a gallery with ~50 photos. A few examples:

If you were at Somerville’s ArtBeat festival over the weekend, not only did you see the art of Walter Sickert adorn ArtBeat but you also had the chance to see him and his band play. This show was unlike any other I’ve seen them put on… mainly because of the extremely young mosh pit and that it was outdoors. In the light. Weird!

The Boston Circus Guild recently turned Club Oberon into a wild bacchanalia for one night. The number of incredible performers there made my head spin.
It was one of the most challenging shows I’ve shot (right up there with weddings!) but after all was said and done I’m fairly pleased with the results. I made more good photographs than I could ever hope to cram into one blog post, so it would greatly behoove you to wander through the full gallery.

I am incredibly grateful to Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band and the Boston Circus Guild for inviting me. The energy that night could only be described as euphoric and everyone there were all amazing performers.
On Saturday Jucy Karkass opened for HUMANWINE [note: autoplay audio] at the Lily Pad in Cambridge. I was really happy to get to focus on them this time; the last time I heard them play was at the Boston Underground Film Festival Opening and by the time they took the stage I was exhausted from shooting Jaggery and The Army of Broken Toys. I knew I wanted to hear more though.

Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys released a new CD, SteamShipKillers (BandCamp link) Friday night. Jaggery, who had just recently released a Double-Single, opened. Two of my favorite Boston-based bands in one place? Bliss.

I keep shooting these guys because they and their live shows are Made of Utter Awesome; they’re on a mini-tour in the northeastern US as I type. Dates are on the front page of their website!
